The treatment for vitiligo that I developed in collaboration with Bella Aurora is called Repigment12: it is a cream that contains a very particular and delicate sequence of 12 amino acids, which penetrates deep into the skin to the basal layer and binds to the MIA protein, preventing it from activating and therefore breaking the anchoring of melanocytes, and thus facilitating the re-pigmentation of the skin.
The therapy also involves the daily intake of an antioxidant supplement and exposure to the sun (every day) or to lamps (twice a week): if the instructions provided are followed, the skin can start to re-pigment after about three months.
It is important to emphasise that this is not a drug; it is a dermo-cosmetic product, with all the benefits this brings, primarily due to the fact that there are no known contraindications to its use.
