Dr Matteo Bordignon, internationally renowned medical doctor and researcher who has long been active in seeking a cure for vitiligo

Dr Matteo Bordignon is an internationally renowned medical doctor and researcher specialising in Dermatology and Venereology. A PhD in Biomedicine and Immunological Sciences, he has long been active in seeking a cure for vitiligo. He is the author of around twenty scientific publications in the most prestigious international scientific publications.
After his classical studies in his hometown of Bassano del Grappa (Vicenza), he graduated in 2004 in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Padua with marks of 110/110 with honours, only then to obtain his 2009 specialisation in Dermatology and Venereology. In January 2012 he gained a PhD in Biomedicine and Immunological Sciences with a specialisation in Clinical and Experimental Allergology and Immunology from the University of Siena, thereby achieving the highest level of university training recognised in Italy and abroad.
His research fields are: vitiligo, hair regeneration with growth factors, and skin cancers. He coordinates a multidisciplinary research group at the University of Padua and took part in numerous clinical trials and laboratory activities during his training. After many years of study and research dedicated to the treatment of vitiligo, he managed to identify – in a world first – a particular protein as the main cause of the disease: his first publication in the “Journal of Dermatological Science”, with which he confirmed this discovery, was followed by a subsequent study published in August 2020 in international scientific journals, in which he demonstrated unequivocally and for the first time the key role of the MIA (Melanoma Inhibitory Activity) protein in the genesis of the disease, thus paving the way for new therapeutic paths.
Four years of collaboration between Dr Matteo Bordignon and the laboratories of the Spanish company Bella Aurora, which has always been a pioneer and specialist in skin pigmentation, led in 2021 to the launch of the first specific treatment for the disease. Dr Matteo Bordignon currently works as a freelance dermatologist in Padua, Thiene and Bassano del Grappa, at the same time bringing his experience and expertise as a speaker to prestigious international conferences.

Dr Bordignon works as a freelance dermatologist only in person and only in Italy, at leading health institutions in the cities of Padua, Thiene (Vicenza) and Bassano del Grappa (Vicenza).
